Subtitling: FedEx x Redwood BBDO

Working smarter to deliver bespoke localised video for FedEx's European markets

What they wanted

In order to remain and grow as a market leader, when FedEx produce new content, it's a race against time to distribute it to their local European markets. For EN Language video content, this is all about the subtitling. And also read speed is a huge factor for text-heavy languages such as French and Polish. And one more challenge was that the script was scripted from a word doc rather than an SRT, which adds another layer of complication.

What we did

Our team used extraction techniques and data manipulation in Excel to generate subtitle files in a fraction of the time it would take in caption editing software. And when we found that certain markets needed longer/slower video files, our AV teams responded quickly. Coupled with the Excel workflow, we could delivered all files at all speeds to the client quickly and efficiently.

How it went

This test case was a huge success, and demonstrated the problem solving approach which is at the root of everything Remote CTRL does. We'll find the quickest and most efficient way possible to address challenges, whatever media we're working in.

“We’ve worked with Adam and the team on a number of localisation projects for FedEx. They embrace our quick turnarounds, help us keep track of progress, ensure continuity and quality, and allow our in-house design team to focus on originating creative work. They get us, they get the work and they ensure things run like clockwork.”
